AN ARAB firm and an Irish consortium are the favourites in the race to buy Ayr Racecourse.
And, if all goes well, the course could have a brand new owner by Christmas.
Five bids in all have been submitted to Christie & Co, the agent acting for racecourse owners Alan Macdonald and Richard Johnstone.
It’s believed that the Middle Eastern bid is close to the £15 million asking price.
But the team behind the Irish bid are deadly serious about getting their hands on Scotland’s premier course and are preparing to make a second visit soon.
