A MAN has appeared in court over the death of a woman in an Ayr flat.
Gavin Boyd appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court charged with killing Vikki McGrand.
It is alleged that on August 26 at 15F Wellington Square, Ayr he assaulted Vikki by punching her in the face and knocking her to the floor.
Boyd, 49, is further accused of committing culpable homicide by tying a cable around the 20-year-old’s mouth, placing a pillow over her face and killing her.
Defence lawyer Peter Lockhart applied for bail but his motion was refused and Boyd was remanded in custody.
Tragic Vikki’s body was found in the flat at around 8.30pm on Sunday, August 31.
Her boyfriend, who she lived with, was in prison at the time.
Police have spent hundreds of hours analysing CCTV footage and speaking to dozens of witnesses in a desperate bid to establish Vikki’s last known movements.
She was seen in the area of Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, August 25 and then in the Sandgate the following evening, the date police believe she died.
Detectives are still appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
