Staff scared by Ayr sex pest

A SLEAZY Ayr man who terrified women at work had been put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.

Gilbert Robbins, 52, admitted making indecent comments to female staff and stroking the hair of one shocked worker at JobCentre Plus in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats, Ayrshire, in December 2006.

He also admitted a separate charge of making repeated suggestive remarks to female staff, placing them in a state of fear and alarm, and breach of the peace at Morrisons in Kilwinning Road, Stevenston, between November 2006 and August 2007.

Robbins, formerly of Ayr but now of Paisley Street, Ardrossan, had 50 previous convictions including animal cruelty, indecency and public order offences.

He told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, where he was also given 160 hours community service: “It was just my gutter humour of which I'm now ashamed.”
