A PAIR of best pals started knocking lumps out of each other when a drink-fuelled argument went too far.
Alan Parker and Jason Smith came to blows when they were walking towards Ayr’s Low Green with their girlfriends.
This week, 23-year-old Parker was jailed at Ayr Sheriff Court after the drunken feud.
Depute fiscal Lorraine Sweeney told the court it was 9pm on May 23 when the foursome were walking along Wellington Lane.
Both the lads were drunk and started arguing, it became physical and Parker started repeatedly punching his pal in the face.
Smith suffered a suspected fractured right cheek, but he discharged himself from hospital the day after the fight and failed to turn up at hospital appointments to have his injury fully checked out.
Defence lawyer Steven Maxwell said: “This is quite simple. These are best friends, they fell out over nothing because they had too much to drink. They were walking towards the shore area with their respective partners.
“Both gave as good as they got until my client became – for want of a better word – the victor.”
Sheriff John Montgomery jailed Parker, of Ayr’s Stonecrop Place, for five months.
