A DAD who assaulted his own son outside a takeaway has been warned he may face jail.
James Mitchell, 43, grabbed his teenage son by the throat in Drongan’s Glencraig Street.
Mitchell pleaded guilty to the assault on August 4 when he appeared from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Carmichael noted that this was Mitchell’s fifth assault conviction.
Defence lawyer Peter Lockhart pleaded for bail on his client’s behalf.
Granting bail, the sheriff warned Mitchell, of the village’s Mill O’ Shield Road, that he could be jailed.
The case was continued while reports are prepared.
