South Ayrshire Councillors condemn Post Office closure plan

COUNCILLORS have rallied to condemn the move to close 10 South Ayrshire post offices.

The Tory-led administration on South Ayrshire Council have already lodged a formal objection.

In a letter to the Post Office consultation team, council leader Hugh Hunter says: “We believe that this clearly represents a severe and unacceptable reduction in access to post office services compared to that currently available.”

Ayr West Tory councillor Robin Reid claims that the move will leave customers without a car high and dry. In Girvan and South Carrick, SNP councillor Alex Oates said: “Having already been through the so-called consultation process during the closure of the Crown Office in Sandgate, Ayr, I can only say the whole process is a sham.”
