COUNCIL chiefs have signed up to a new deal which could see improvements to public services in South Ayrshire.
They’ve agreed to deliver services in line with a Scottish Government initiative.
And council leader Hugh Hunter welcomed Scotland’s finance secretary John Swinney to Ayr to mark the occasion.
Councillor Hunter explained: “South Ayrshire Council is committed to improving services and the quality of life of the residents of South Ayrshire.
“We will achieve this by working closely with our community planning partners and focusing on what our residents want and need.
“The council has come a long way in the past year but we know that more improvement is needed.”
All 32 Scottish local authorities have agreed to adopt the Single Outcome Agreement, which aims to meet the needs of local and national priorities.
After signing the agreement Councillor Hunter gave Mr Swinney a tour of Ayr town centre.
Mr Swinney added: “The Single Outcome Agreement we signed puts local authorities at the heart of local democracy, reducing unnecessary reporting and monitoring, and allows councils and their community planning partners to deliver the services people want and need.”
