Ayr's Pets Corner bids for Euro cash

PETS’ Corner will bid for vital funding from a European cash pot.

SNP politicians have discovered the Belleisle attraction is eligible for a possible grant.

Now they’ll bid to snare money from the EU commission as they try to save the Ayr animal centre.

MEP Alyn Smith revealed: “This is a positive step in the right direction.

“It’s clear that there is European funding available for projects like Pets’ Corner, and South Ayrshire Council has the means to access them.

“Make no mistake, this is a competitive process with numerous projects vying for European funding, but with the right attitude and a coherent structured bid, Pets’ Corner stands as good a chance as any.

“It has been a pleasure working with Councillor John Allan on this project, and I hope to hear that when the EU funded projects round is announced next spring, Pets’ Corner will be included.”

Councillor Allan added: “On behalf of the people of South Ayrshire I would like to thank Alyn Smith for his help in sourcing possible funding for Pets’ Corner.

“I will be working with the South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership to put together a robust bid to try to ensure the long term future of Pets’ Corner.”
