A POLL on Ayrshire Post Online has shown that the majority of voters want Scotland to be independent from the rest of the UK.
Over 60 per cent of those who voted backed a breakaway from England, Wales and Northern Ireland whereas just under 40 per cent want to remain part of the union.
This result comes just after Conservative leader, David Cameron, gave a rousing a defiant speech backing the continuation of the Union between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
He delivered the keynote speech at the Scottish Tory conference which was held at Ayr Racecourse when he described how he wanted to be the Prime Minister of all of the country and not just Scotland.
You can now vote on whether you think Ayr beach deserves a yellow and blue flag.
It was announced recently that the local hotspot would be given the accolade by Keep Scotland Beautiful despite failing a bathing water test.
