KYLE Mountain Club members keep going back to Arran again and again and last weekend enjoyed yet another great back-packing trip.
Opportunities are endless with four Corbetts and 10 peaks over 2000 feet and many ridge walks.
The peaks in Arran can put many a mainland Munro into the shade.
Club members split into three groups - one group back-packed up from Lochranza and camped high under Cir Mhor.
Although visibility was superb, the wind increased as the day progressed. During the night the wind got stronger and certainly put their tents to the test.
Another group were only able to come over for the day but had a great time on Goatfell.
The final group climbed up to the Witches Step - a granite ridge with a huge cleft - which has fantastic views into Glen Sannox and over to the Clyde.
Next club outing is to the Island of Rum at the end of this month sailing from Mallaig and staying in Kinloch Castle and members are hoping, weather permitting, to complete the Cuillins of Rum.
The Kyle Club meet at Christina’s Bar, Mill Street, Ayr, at 8.30pm on the first and third Thursday of every month. Feel free to come along, or contact Colin Meikle on (01294) 279669.
