Junkie jailed after spitting in Ayr cop's face

A DRUG addict spat in a cop’s face after being arrested for shoplifting.

Charles Anderson tried to pinch perfume from Debenhams in Ayr on December 14 last year.

But when cops arrived to pick him up they found him in possession of cannabis and heroin.

Ayr Sheriff Court heard this week that the 22-year-old, who gave his address as the Blue Triangle in Charlotte Street, was taken to Ayr police office after the botched theft.

After being processed, Anderson was put in a cell.

It was while an officer was checking on him that vile Anderson spat at him through the hatch.

Jailing Anderson, Sheriff Douglas Brown said: “The options open to the court are limited. I was wondering if community service would be appropriate but you are still, in their opinion, not suitable.”
