THE 165th Ayr County Show enjoyed a great weekend.
The two-day event, Ayrshire’s premier agricultural show held at Ayr Racecourse, pulled in the crowds.
Lorraine Murdoch, secretary, Ayrshire Agricultural Association said: “We had a great weekend with the weather on our side.
“Our attendance figures are definitely up and we reckon we had in the region of 20,000 people come to the show over the two days.
“Jive Pony Duo provided the main ring entertainment and proved popular as it was a truly sensational and flamboyant show which wowed the crowd with a fantastic display.
“Taking the Rotherwoods champion of champions award and also the Corporation of Ayr Perpetual Trophy, was H.U. Louise 175, a four-year-old Ayrshire cow in milk, of Halmyre Farm, Castle Douglas.
“The Young Farmers Tug O’ War competition is always popular and this year girls’ winners were Kilmaurs Young Farmers and boys, Lesmahagow Young Farmers.
“A big thanks to all our sponsors, and especially our main sponsors Rotherwood Furniture, our many advertisers, trade stands, exhibitors, show, and committee members.
“And everyone who attended and supported the 2008 Ayr County Show.”
