Hybrid cars are the cars of the future - today

As we begin the start of a new decade there are some issues that were the talk of 2009 that are going to become even more important in 2010. Now we could not begin to list them all here as there certainly are many of them, but perhaps the main one of these is the concern that people have for the environment and preventing or hindering global warming. One of the ways in which we can do this is through driving cars that are better for the environment such as the Honda Insight Hybrid.

Hybrid cars are fast becoming the cars of the future though they are certainly not something that has only just come onto the market. The original Honda Insight hybrid began its journey in the cars market in 1999 and was perhaps then a little before its time. However now many of the other car manufacturers are playing catch up. One decade later and hybrid cars such as the Honda CR-Z Hybrid, the original Honda Insight Hybrid and the brand new Honda CR-Z Hybrid Concept are dominating the hybrid cars industry. This is because moving to lighter weight, smaller cars is one of the best and quickest ways to reduce the environmental impact of our cars.

Smaller, sportier hybrid cars such as the Honda CR-Z Hybrid are better for the environment for many reasons, namely because they use a mixture of petrol and electrics to run the car, thus reducing their impact on the environment. The difference with a car like this though is that the model for the Honda CR-Z Hybrid is based on a sporty Honda coupe, so doing your bit for the environment does not mean that you have to sacrifice the look of your car. The Honda CR-Z Hybrid will also be the first ever petrol-electric car that uses a 6-speed manual transmission.

This means that the way hybrid cars can be driven is changing; or indeed has changed. It means that people who once were uninterested in hybrid cars because they were slow or lacked umph no longer have a reason to reject hybrid cars- which is something that the future of our environment can only benefit from. The Honda CR-Z Hybrid, the Honda CR-Z Hybrid Concept (to be released in summer 2010) and the Honda Insight Hybrid all come with vehicle stability assist, front, side and curtain airbags, tilt and telescopic steering and 15 alloy wheels to name but a few features. This means that they are, hybrid or not, pretty impressive cars.

Hybrid cars allow the drivers to also benefit from lower petrol costs than many of the gas-guzzling cars that are currently on the roads. The other thing about Honda hybrid cars and other such hybrids is that they will not fall under the increases in road tax that are to be imposed for big engine cars. And in an age where appearance is everything, hybrid cars like the Honda CR-Z Hybrid, the new Honda CR-Z Hybrid Concept and the Honda Insight Hybrid allow you to show the world that you are doing your bit. They are also not as pricey as you may think. A Honda Insight Hybrid SE goes for an impressive £16,000, which means that doing your bit for the planet does not have to cost the earth.
