BIG-HEARTED Prestwick dad Scott Wardrop will pound the streets of Glasgow to help sick kids in Glasgow’s Yorkhill Hospital.
The Glasgow Half Marathon takes place this Sunday and he will join thousands of others running through the streets and across the famous Kingston Bridge.
Scott is hoping to raise money so they will be able to watch their favourite TV shows while receiving treatment for life threatening illnesses.
His son Kieran, 15, suffered from a heart condition and had to undergo life saving open-heart surgery at Yorkhill. Since the operation, Prestwick Academy pupil Kieran is getting better day by day and his dad hopes to raise somewhere in the region of £600 to help youngsters battling similar heart problems.
Scott explained: “After speaking to staff in the cardiology department at the hospital, I discovered that the kids respond to treatment better when they have some of their favourite things from home.
“Television is a big part of home life and channels like CBeebies can really help to put them at ease and make the experience of being in hospital a lot less stressful.”
Scott is running on behalf of the Scottish Association for Children with Heart Disorders and hopes to be able to provide the unit with a large flat screen TV complete with freeview.
