TV licence crackdown on Ayrshire hotels

HOTELS in Ayrshire are being targeted by TV licensing chiefs.

Bosses of holiday accomodation have been told to make sure their licences are up to scratch – or face a £1000 fine.

Guest houses will also come under the spotlight during the crackdown.

Fergus Reid, TV Licensing spokesperson, said: “The last thing any manager would want is a TV Licensing enquiry officer turning up at the reception desk.

“If your hotel is unlicensed, you risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1000, so it’s essential to check you’re covered.

“TV Licensing would always rather hotels and guest houses are correctly licensed, rather than risk prosecution and a fine, which is why we’re issuing this advice.

“Hotel managers can contact us on 0844 800 5820 with any questions, rather than run the risk of getting caught.”
