Pervert assaults Prestwick woman

Beck is led away

A PERVERT sexually assaulted a Prestwick woman in her own home after meeting her on a Christian dating website.

Sick Graeme Beck climbed into the woman’s bed while she slept before removing her night clothes and attacking her.

But, when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Beck’s lawyer Robert Campbell claimed: “It could have been worse.”

The sleazy alcoholic preyed on the religious woman who signed up to the website in a bid to find companionship.

His victim grew to trust the dad-of-two and even let him sleep on her couch.

But she was horrified when she woke up during the night to find naked Beck sexually assaulting her.

He pleaded guilty to the vile offence, which happened on April 16 this year.

Jailing him for two years, Sheriff John Montgomery said the case highlighted the dangers of meeting people over the internet.

Defence lawyer Robert Campbell told the court that Beck, originally from Leeds, had spent the day with his victim and it was arranged that he would spend the night on the couch.

He continued: “When she woke up to find him simulating this sex act she asked him to leave. To his credit, he did leave when he was asked.

“He went back the next day but stayed downstairs. She made it clear she wasn’t happy about what had happened, not unnaturally.”

Mr Campbell added: “It could have been worse. At the end of the day, he did show some sort of restraint.”

Beck was jailed for two years and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Passing sentence, Sheriff John Montgomery said: “This highlights the dangers of naive people meeting other people on the internet.”
