Ayr's Save the Children to close

THE Ayr branch of Save the Children is to close the doors of its charity shop after 30 years.

The decision follows the end of the lease at the store in Newmarket Street.

Rob McMillan is the charity’s retail manager for Scotland.

He said: “We would like to extend a huge and heartfelt thanks to all of our Ayr volunteers, who have done a wonderful job and given up so many hours for Save the Children.

“We would also like to thank our customers for their continued support and donations. They have made it possible for us to stay open for over 30 years.”

The charity will continue to have a presence in Ayr with the active fundraising branch, which is always keen to recruit more members.

In fact, their annual art exhibition and sale, featuring over 160 of Scotland’s most prestigious artists, will take place at the Maclaurin Galleries between October 6 and November 2.

Donations can still be made via the branch treasurer Margaret Taylor, who can be contacted on 01292 312771.
