CASH is rolling in to save Pets’ Corner. So are ideas for fundraising events.
But volunteer help is sadly lacking.
And rescue co-ordinator Henry Pimental this week pleaded: “We desperately need physical help.
”We’re doing a bag-pack at Asda on Saturday, and have only six people.
“There are 18 check-outs at Asda, and a potential to make a lot of money.
“We realistically need two people at each check-out.
“And we’re asking people to show up, even to give us half-an-hour of their time.”
The bag-pack will go on from 10am to 5pm, on Saturday, May 24.
But Henry will be there much earlier, seated at a table outside the Heathfield superstore.
And he’ll stay there — taking names of people who are willing to help with events, even if they can’t spare time on Saturday.
More bag-packs are planned at Asda, and other fundraisers in the pipeline include two Gaiety shows.
Ayr-based theatre group M&M Theatrical Productions have offered their services.
And they will stage two brand new shows on Friday, June 20.
The shows are based on the classic stories Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.
One will be staged at 7pm and one at 8pm, and tickets (£5) are available from the Gaiety box office on 01292 611222.
An M&M spokesman said: “We’re off to Abu Dhabi the very next day, for a summer season based in a new super mall.
”These are two of the four new shows we’ll be presenting during a two-month contract in Abu Dhabi.”
Henry Pimental said: “This is a great gesture, both from M&M and from South Ayrshire Council, who are giving us full co-operation.
“The shows will be part of what could be an exciting calendar of summer fundraising events.
“But we must have more help. My committee and myself are exhausted trying to do everything.
“We must have physical assistance from the many supporters of Pets’ Corner in the community who perhaps think everything is fine now.
“Yes, we’ve got ideas, events and cash potential, but what we don’t have are bodies prepared to give us some of their time.”
