A squad of runners will bid to raise charity cash – by hopping on a BUS.
The team of 54 will head from Ayrshire to run the Edinburgh Marathon later this year.
And a kind-hearted coach company has offered to transport them in style as the runners coin in the money for a great cause.
Dodds of Troon will lay on the wheels for Scott McIntosh and his pals as they head for the capital.
The team, who are running to raise funds for the Institute of Cancer Research, are hoping their fund reaches £20,000.
Scott, of Ayr, explained: “A lot of the team have been touched by cancer in some way.
“We’re raising money for a research team that works with childhood brain tumours. Raising awareness is very important because brain tumours continue to be the biggest cancer killer of kids.
“And research is significantly underfunded in the UK.”
Scott has gathered a giant team of self-styled Brainrunners for the Edinburgh run on May 26.
And he’s paid tribute to Dodds, who will transport all the runners to the capital and back.
Scott, 40, admitted: “When we started planning this, we knew that support from the outside would be very important.
“It will be fantastic to travel together to Edinburgh. We’re very grateful to Dodds for their generosity.
“Only two of us have ever done a marathon before so the lift home will be nice!”
The team will compete in a mixture of full marathon, half marathon and relay events on the day.
Before that, they’re holding a fundraising night at Enterkine House, featuring a dinner, auction and raffle for 200 guests.
Scott added: “We’re busy sourcing raffle and auction prizes and local businesses have been very supportive so far.
“But more will be required, so if anyone else can help, they should call me on 07919 565773.”
