Ayr hotel voted country's most romantic

An Ayrshire hotel has been voted as the most romantic in the whole of Britain.

The four star Western House at Ayr Racecourse was given the accolade by LateRooms.com, one of the world’s leading hotel reservations websites.

The prize was handed out as part of their first ever Simply the Guest Awards.

Only one other hotel from Scotland featured in the inaugural top 10.

Western House general manager, Malcolm Balish, said: “This is a huge honour for everyone at Western House.

“This award is based purely on genuine guest reviews so it means a lot to us.

“When you think of some of the hotel locations in the world for Western House to win this award is exceptional.

“In the hospitality industry LateRooms.com is a major, major website and to be recognised in this way in their first ever Simply The Guest Awards is very special.”

It’s the latest in a string of awards won by the hotel after it picked up six prizes at last year’s Scottish Hotel Awards.

Gongs included wedding team of the year and the reception excellence gold medal.

A spokesman from LateRooms.com said: “We launched our Simply the Guest Awards to find and recognise the hotels that our guests simply love the most – like Western House Hotel.

“This is based solely on genuine guest reviews and is the only award of this type in the UK.”

Some of the comments from guests included: “Staff were very professional and friendly. Excellent restaurant menu and quality of food. Very relaxing surroundings.

“Fantastic rooms and venue food was amazing would stay any time. Have stayed in many different hotels world wide and certainly one of my top three. Surpasses many places even better than some luxury hotels in Dubai.

“Super place to stay, accommodation very good, food excellent and staff very attentive.”
