Ayr musician among Scotland's most eligible men

He might not be rich, but Jamie McGeechan insists money ain’t everything when it comes to charming the ladies.

Now the Ayr singer/songwriter has been named on a list of Scotland’s hottest catches.

For Jamie, 27, is in the running to win the title of Mr Eligible 2012.

Competition will be tough, with a string of hunky models and actors also in the frame. But Jamie, also known by his musical stage name of Little Fire, is ready to give it a bash.

He laughed: “The thought of me being Scotland’s most eligible man is a bit hilarious. When my dad found out I’d been nominated, he almost killed himself laughing.

“I may be skint, but I’m rich in hope and would offer any woman I met the gift of my music.”

Were Jamie to win this year’s contest, he would follow in the footsteps of Saville Row tailor, Patrick Grant, who scooped last year’s crown.

Among the 2012 finalists are a number of male models, including Chris Capaldi, who is the face of Scotch Beef.

And the women’s contest features multi-millionaire lingerie boss, Michelle Mone.

But Jamie believes he can land a blow for the average man on the street and is appealing for votes in the online contest.

He said: “It’s all a bit of fun, really, but who wouldn’t love to be named Scotland’s most eligible man?

“There are some amazing names on that list and I’m just a wee guy from Ayr with my guitar.

“I’m just chuffed to be nominated and any woman who sees me as an eligible catch knows they would get two things, music and romance!”

The 100 finalists will be cut to 50 when online voting ends on Friday. To vote for Jamie, go to www.eligibles.scotsman.com/eligibles.aspx.
