A TWISTED student who shared indecent images of children with other perverts was snared as part of a paedophile ring.
James Murnin was just 15-years-old when he began gathering his sickening collection of pictures and movies of children being abused.
His vile fetish went on for years until police were led to the now 22-year-old last year.
It came after officers in England captured a paedophile and uncovered Murnin’s email address.
Murnin had been trading files with the pervert and others using Windows Messenger.
When police examined Murnin’s computer and hard drives, they discovered 683 indecent still images and 11 indecent movies of children.
Several of the images were at the most depraved level on a scale used by prosecutors and involve sadism and animals.
He was arrested, and other than confirming his email address answered ‘no comment’ throughout his interview.
But at Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Murnin pleaded guilty to distributing or showing indecent images of children from his parents’ home in Ayr’s Ailsa Place between July 2010 and June 2011.
He further admitted permitting to be taken indecent images of children between November 2005 and June 2011.
Defence lawyer Graeme McKinstry explained that Murnin is now a full-time student in Inverness.
Sentence was deferred on Murnin for background reports. He will be back in court next month and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
